Why do some Jehovah's Witnesses choose to be atheist or agnostic?
by Cassaruby in"traumatic as the initial transition may be, it can lead to the development of a truly personal relationship with these two greatest friends [the father and the son] .
.. "whatever sense of 'belonging' that membership in some religious system may create, it can never compare with the power and beauty and strengthening benefit of the intimate personal relationship the scripture presents .
from reading joseph campbell i've come to understand that there are functions to religion or mythology.

The day after Armageddon
by Pronger1 injws are scattered across the globe.
a few million people left, pretty isolated from each other.. telephone lines and power goes down since the people who supported the infrastructure are dead.
communication across town, state, country, etc is cut off.

I love oat meal, but three times a day that's a little too much. I wonder what manna taste like, maybe chicken.....
OK I found it, manna tasted like a pastry cooked with the finest oil. Numbers 11:7-8...

Rank & File Reaction to Leah Remini Series
by freemindfade inwife and i have watched the whole series and just finished episode 7 last night.
personally, i am seeing a great deal more subtle and day to day similarities to watchtower than the obvious ones i already knew existed, ie shunning.
very eye opening and heartbreaking, even more so than going clear in my mind.

PTSD comes to mind for those lucky to be standing, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. People experienced traumatic events to have flashbacks (Vets from WW2-wars today),nightmares, or intrusive memories when something terrible happens. So I'am sure young JW children's will be ok after watching their friends go up in flames. A serious debilitating condition can occur in people who witnessed sudden death of love ones (like watching a human BBQ)..But I sure Jehovah will wipe that from the young ones memory..

No problem in rebuilding. The flood around 2348 B.C. the pyramids began around 2630-2611 B.C.....Something like that...

Some apostates are coming across as crazed psychopaths
by jambon1 ini'm not sure whether or not my view on this is correct so please leave your input.
in recent months i've been viewing youtube videos.
again, it might just be my view but there has been an increased amount of random people grabbing a camera and doing vlogs.

Checked the numbers for people viewing these YouTube videos, not a large number.....JW's are so insignificant.

Now I'm Convinced There Probably Is No God
by pale.emperor inyesterday i made a visit to the museum in my city.
the top floor is the planetarium, which has a connecting room with a huge dome ceiling where they project lessons and lectures and you have a 360 view of the night sky etc.. this particular lecture explained about our galaxy, and how it's only one of billions in the universe.
and then we learned about each planet, some of their moons and the sun.

That's a lot of overlapping generations, "7 billion years"....

by Disassociated Lady 2 ini have had a conversation this evening with a jw friend i have known since childhood.
he is of the opinion that armageddon will have come and gone within the next 5 years.
are the jws now pinpointing 2020 as the supposed year?

Maybe the elders have been told too many time, F--- off after hounding people.Come on folks after someone is missing and you know they don't believe the BS and you hunt them down to ask, what's your problem you don't believe we are Jehovah's organization? Hell most elders have problems with their own family today....You have to have some big cohones to knock on my door and tell me, if you don't come back we will DF you...Today I can't believe this is still happening.

When was the last time someone in your congregation was DF's?????
by James Mixon injust curious.. you folks that is still attending, lets say in the past year.....do you see a slow down in the craziness in breaking up families???
?.

pale: the same here, I'am responsible for the family breakup (over 20 years). My none JW family members thank me everyday, when they saw the shunning first hand it put an end to their studies.
